23. The parable of the "Good Samaritan"
Luke 10:17-37
In the winter of 27-28 CE Yeshua ministers in the Villages and Cities where the thirty-five, (35), pairs of Disciples, (70), were sent. Sometime during week 38-42 of Yeshua’s Ministry a Torah Scholar challenges Him and he spoke this parable to him. Let’s begin this wondrous lesson as the disciples report back to Yeshua before the Feast of Dedication, also known as Hanukkah.
Luke 10:17 The seventy returned again with joy, saying, “Master, even the demons are subject to us through your name.” 18 Yeshua said to them, “I saw hasatan come down out of the heavens like lightning [when you interfered with his subjects]. 19 I gave to you the authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and authority over all the power of the enemy. Nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Notwithstanding, do not rejoice in that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
21 In that hour Yeshua rejoiced in his spirit, and prayed, “I thank you for hiding these things from the wise and prudent, but revealing them to babes – for so it seemed good in your sight, O Father. 22 All things have been given to me by my Father, yet no man knows who the Son is, but the Father. And no one really knows the Father, but the Son, and those to whom the Son will reveal him.” 23 Yeshua turned to his disciples and said quietly, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you have seen! 24 I tell you, many prophets and kings have desired to see the things which you have seen, and have not seen them. They have desired to hear the things which you have heard, and have not heard them.”
25 A certain Torah scholar stood up and tested him, saying, “Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He replied, “What is written in the Torah? How do you read it?” 27 He answered, “You shall love YeHoVah your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 Yeshua replied, “You have answered correctly. Do this and you shall live for eternity.” 29 But he, trying to justify himself, said to Yeshua, “So, who is my neighbor?” 30 Yeshua answered him, “A certain man went down from Yerushalayim to Yericho and fell among thieves who stripped him of his garments, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 By chance a certain priest came down that way, and when he saw him he crossed over to the other side. “ 32 Likewise a Levite, when he came to the place, looked at him and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came upon where he was. When he saw him he had compassion on him, 34 and went to him, and bound up his wounds pouring in oil and wine. He set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the morrow when he departed, he took out two weeks’ wages, and gave them to the inn keeper and said, “Take care of him. Whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.” 36 Now I ask you, which of these three do you think was neighbor to him that fell among the thieves?” 37 He said, “He that showed mercy on him.” Then Yeshua said to him, “Go, and do likewise.”
Let the words and numbers be established by two or three witnesses. Look forth to the parable passage and know that two that appear as righteous passed by on the wrong side. But there was one who came, adding himself and giving of his four legged beast. They took him to the Inn and gave all he had, twelve days pay, and offered even more to the one who would take care that the one to receive the gift would be made whole and all that came before would sum eight and the mystery in the words and numbers would be made manifest at the appointed time.
What does it mean, TO YOU, when you read Torah? Does your heart only perceive confusing stories of war, blood and conquests of men? Or does your heart see the struggle of the people, those who an enemy persecutes, leaving them naked and in bondage, slaves building the empire of carnal men?
With compassion there is One who came and brought them out of Egypt, taking them along The Way. He gave them manna to eat that they would believe the mysterious ways of revelation each day. He gave them a double portion of revelation before the Sabbath Day, that they would rest and be filled, make ready to go and walk along The Way. He led them through with eyes that sea, giving them streams of living water that their journey could be made complete.
They found that with all they had been given, all the miracles that they had seen, were not enough to make their hearts believe - The Word is Alive, with revelation - the gift to those with eyes that see.
Let us look to the past to understand what is now before us. For they wondered in the wilderness, their path made crooked because of their unbelieving hearts. But there was one who had been sent to make the way straight and true but the lust of a harlot woman’s heart is what killed him before his work was through. Be weary of the harlot, the woman who takes many seeds. Remember always that The Word of God is the good seed and many carnal men building empires have come in the dark sowing tares amongst the wheat.
The Religious system is blinding you and has chains around your feet. The Harlot Church System has taken on to many ungodly seeds. The mixing of the anointing has brought forth the towers of old, let the Tower of Babylon be known as the Pulpit, that place that spews forth blindness and puts a tear in the children’s eyes.
